Happy New Year...

Few weeks ago I did order some stamps from China.
I really love these, all reminds me about my favourite country, India.

Love making the background before I start stamping.

What do you think?

Hope you all have a wonderful night.
Here in Iceland everything is getting crazy at midnight.
Fireworks for an hour or two.

Pour my dog and all the other animals that don´t like the bombing.

Happy New Year to you.

Two exhibition opening at the same day :I

One day I did start a painting, a big one 80x80
it was going to an exhibition.
It started like this...

Adding layer b y layer of a bright an  beautiful layers..

Suddenly there were 3 birds there...

With a doodle here and there.... I came as far as this..

And suddenly there was a girl with a bird... yes I did paint over my birds..

She was good looking, with a bird on her shoulder, small wings and a beautiful quote in her hair that says.. Nothing can dim the light that comes from within.. (Maya Angelou)

And this is how my painting ended... with a bronze background...
A little different from the start
But tats how I paint...

The other exhibition was an outdoor exhibition for one evening, painting on a thick cloth..
Much fun making, loved this event..

Have a beautiful weekend

New paintings for Soul Food class hosted by Community Thrive

Lesson 7 in my Soul Food class was thought by Michelle Sylvia.
I really enjoyed her class where we worked a lot with the background.
I love working with backgrounds.
I used a lot of ink and my new Golden High Flow, I just love them.

First I made this girl, love how she turned out.
In her is written Follow your heart..

Then I made this one, she is different but I love her as well and the little bird sitting on her head.
In her hair is written She believed in kindness..
Have a great day

Why I paint what I paint...

Like I told you in my last post then I have been unable to paint for few weeks... had to have my leg strait and did not fit in to my studio like that, sitting in a wheel chair.

But yesterday I was able to sit for a while with my leg down so I did a little painting.
As you might know Im taking Mystele´s class Gut Art. At first I was completely lost did not know what to do but after a little help from a friend I begun to understand.

I did make a background, using Acryl, stamps, graphite, stencils, ink spray, ink, and water. I did make lines, round shapes, zikzak lines and just anything I could think of.

When dried I did turn my paper around many times trying to find out what was hiding in my background. And after a moment I had found some interesting things.

I did make the lines darker and you can see what I saw.

After I had found out what would be in my painting I did start with a white paint and then a black paint. Adding a little paint here and there.

Now I did also find a little bird in the ladies dress..

I was not to happy with  my painting, It needed a litttle more colors and I had to fix the lettering in her face.

So I did a little more painting and I start using my oil pastels that I have never used before.

So now Im done, like it a lot better like this. What do you think?

Please leave me a comment, It would make me happy :)

Have a beautiful day

My Blog Hop

For the first time Im taking a part in a Blog Hop.
For one week, we (few girls) will be posting one after another our art on or blog        and giving away something to one of them that leaves a message.
So please leave a message and you might be the lucky one :)

What I should make for this Blog Hop was a Totem animal.
Im not 100% sure what Totem animal is but Im doing my best trying to understand..

As always I do start with the background.
This time Im working on a pice of wood.
I found a map and did cut out South America,
I did that for Guada, the girl that started this Blog Hop :)
Then I did use my stencils, little here and little there.

Then I did draw birds, 3 little birds on a paper. Mulberry paper I think the name is but I learned to use it from a friend.
Most of the time I do add 3 things to my paintings, don´t know why
but I would love to say that these are my 3 children.

Then I did a little more stenciling.

Painted the birds and let them dry.

Then I did glue my birds on the background and added a little stencils here and there.. did a little doodling.

And my painting is ready. What do you think?

3 little birds, all the same for the mother, one has left the nest that is my oldest son.
The one in the middle with its long legs is my daughter, still at home though she studies in USA and stays there most of the time.
The little one is my youngest son, still staying at home and I think he is going to stay for a long time or as long as his computer lives :)

So here you have my Blog Hop, remember to leave a message and feel free to follow so that you can see what the other Blog Hopper have for you..

You can find out all about it here

Have a beautiful and blessed day

Im learning from Kelly Rae Roberts....

My newest class is the one with Kelly Rae Roberts.
Im in love with her art, she is the best in layers, I think.
I love the way she build up her paintings, layer by layer
and her choose of color is so fantastic.
As she says then she loves the white and use it a lot to blend other colors with.

It all starts with paint building up layers of colors, warm colors, cold colors and all the other colors and sprays, stencils and stamps, layer by layer.

There are so many small details in her paintings and I tried to do my best by
finding small things that would fit in my painting.

I worked on my first one for a long time, was not happy,
to crowded and something was wrong.

So I did a little changes here and there and now Im almost done,
going to work a little more with the lettering in the bottom.

I started working on my second background. Did a good start.

Love this one, reminds me of the summertime.
Not going to work more on this one.

This one is on my desk now.
Im a little afraid with this one, dont know what to do next.
Have not glued down the butterfly jet, not sure if I use it.
Love the colors in this one, they are not my favorite but I like them.

That is my life today....
Trying to learn from the best...
Hoping that one day I find my style using all the tricks
from all the wonderful teachers I have been learning from the past two years.

Have a beautiful day, all of you

My Owl

Last weeks class at the Life Book was with Juliette Crane, How to paint whimsy animals. I did want to make an Owl and I did this little cute thing. But I did a mistake, I made her with a sleeves but not a wings so this is a Owl with sleeves surrounded with flying flowers, I must have been thinking of girl when I painted her and I was to tired efter my New York days.
I think she is cute.
Going to practice more on whimsy animals.
Happy PPF to all of you..

Postcard swap... New York and more....

Last week I was on a trip to New York with my family. We stayed in Long Island for two nights with a family and then in Manhattan for two nights.
We did have a very nice time both with the family and then in the city.
Just before we vent I made these postcards for a postcard swap I was taking part in.

Im always late posting here but someone has to be the last one...

I went to Michaels in Staten Island and bought a little art stuff, they did not have Golden gel so I have to get it later but I bought so cheep stamps, one dollar each some of them, here in Iceland I have to pay dollars 20 or more for each.

I did not find it easy to find magazine from Stampington but I found two Somerset Studio and one Cloth, Paper, Scissors. I was going to buy Journaling but I have to order it as I did not find one.
Happy last PPF friday...
Hope that Ill be on time next time..

A Big Lovely Lady...

First of all I want to thank all of you for your nice comments here and on my page. I was going to visit all of you an leave a comment for you but I think I'm only done with half of you.
 Big ❤ ❤ ❤ to all of you :-)

I have been working on this Lovely Lady now for few days. I think I'm finished and I think I'm happy with her. Her colors are brighter, I should have waited for the daylight to take the photo.
This one has many layers and many colors. The size is 50x60 and she is painted on canvas.

As you can see I have been using all kind of colored paper around her head and then I did start painting outlines and adding colors to the Lady and the background.

A little bit here and there, painting over adding stamps and more colors.. In the end I'm happy, might add a little doddeling here and there but not sure about that.
♫♪♫♪ ♫♪  Happy PPF to you and happy weekend to the rest of you.  ♫♪♫♪♫♪
